The Ismaili Council for Canada invites you and guest to the opening of ‘Memories of Stone’, an exhibition of contemporary photographs, poetry and textile art exploring the complex histories of coexistence and conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The exhibition is a collaboration between Azra Akšamija (MIT), Velibor Božović (Concordia University), Amila Buturović (York University), and Zulfikar Hirji (York University).

‘The Destruction of Memory’, a new film by Director Tim Slade, will be screened after the exhibition opening. The film examines the long war against culture in Bosnia, Syria, West Africa, and other parts of the world. It tells the stories of heroic individuals who are fighting to protect and preserve the cultural identities, memories and histories of their communities for the benefit of humanity at large. An audience Q & A session with the film director will follow the screening. Light refreshments will be served.
